HEART DISEASE AWARENESS | WHY I WEAR RED
Heart Disease hits close to home for the Strawberry Hill Events Family. Our family knows firsthand how Heart Disease can impact a family. I wear RED for me and my family! I personally have battled with Heart Disease since 2005 and have seen how it can stop you in your tracks and change your life. I was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Prinzmetal Angina, which only accounts for 2% of all Angina cases and left bundle branch block, by Mayo Clinic in February 2007. My symptoms began in 2005 with my first of many trips to the ER. It took 2 years and a trip to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to finally get diagnosis. My life was forever changed by Heart Disease. I had to make career and lifestyle changes and accept that my life and the life of my family would forever be changed.
Lots of people battle with Heart Disease and it's a disease that is not always obvious when you meet someone or even when you've known someone for a while. You see often people with Heart Disease can appear to lead normal lives to the outside world, but to those that know them best, they know that it is a daily battle. There are good days and bad days and unfortunately you often never know which one you will wake up to. That is part of the reason that awareness is so important. Another reason awareness is so important is so people can be educated to take preventive measures and get regular screenings by a physician. Also, awareness leads to inspiring others to give towards finding a cure.
This apparel design was inspired by my own battle and journey with Heart Disease and is a way to promote awareness and give hope to those battling this disease. I have seen first hand how God can use your heart journey to minister to others and our hope is they this apparel line will give hope to those on this journey. My prayer for all those that battle with Heart Disease is:
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
